Part 2: Wart, Invader of Dreams

Armies patrol borders of kingdoms, watching for attacks. No one expects their dreams to be the front for a battle.

Wart's threat to the Mushroom Kingdom was not traditional in anyway. Weaseling into the dream land of Sub-Con, the frog like king took over and became a danger not just to the Mushroom Kingdom, but to any who slept! With his Dream Machine, Wart intended to suck all into the land of dreams, where he was ruler.

He almost managed to do it, too. His army consisted of many troops, some following Wart for power, others out of cult-like obedience. His generals, Mouser, TryClyde, Fryguy, and Clawgrip kept the various lands of Sub-Con in line, with Birdos, Ninjis, Cobrats, Snifits, Beezos, and many, many Shy Guys following their orders. They patrolled the land of Sub-Con, subjecting its inhabitants to capture and magical imprisonment. Nothing could stop the seemingly endless parade of masked menaces.

Until 4 heroes of the Mushroom Kingdom put a stop to Wart's plan by stuffing him full of the very things that were powering his evil machine: vegetables!

While Wart has laid low mostly since, one can never sleep quite as soundly as before. Some wake up, relating shared experiences and seeing the crown wearing frog in their dreams, perhaps planning his return.

Wart and his minions appeared in Super Mario Bros. 2. While Wart himself has only since been in remakes and one cameo in the Zelda series, many of his minions have returned to become regular enemies in the Mario games, including Shy Guys, Bob-Ombs, Pokeys, and others.
