In anticipation of Smash Bros. Brawl, I drew up a picture of characters that I thought would also make good additions to the playable roster. This is not a complaint about the 35 characters that did make it in (well, except maybe one....), but rather just something for kicks. I tried to take a few things into consideration: representing their series; mentally thinking of specials they could do; and if I liked the character.
We have:
Megaman from the original "Megaman" series. No stranger to being in crossover fighting games, Megaman would bring over lots of his moves from the Capcom vs. series, though with a Smash Bros. twist. I thought that for his Final Smash, he could turn into Megaman X and have jacked-up powers (kinda like the Bowser to GigaBowser or Wario to WarioMan changes). Though he may be slow with weak physical-contact power, his projectiles are a force to be reckoned with.
Geno from "Super Mario RPG." I'd love to see this guy back. He had a very heroic flare to him, as well as being pretty kick-ass for being a star being in the body of an animated doll. His Final Smash would have to be Geno Blast, raining colored pain from the heavens. I like that move, and though Geno Flash is more powerful, it's not as pretty. Also, the Geno Whirl would have a low chance of instant KO when hitting.
Jody Summer from the F-Zero series. She's a trophy in both Melee and Brawl, and I think it'd be good to have the F-Zero games have another representative, and a female one at that. Jody's Final Smash would be like Captain Falcon's but with her racer, obviously.
Mona from WarioWare. Mona is great, and I think she'd be another good representation of the series for her crazy attacks. If you've played the WWInc. games, you might remember that her "story" is usually involving being chased, and she has 3 little animal helpers (monkeys, I think) that help her out. Her specials could all revolve around using those monkeys, kind of like Olimar uses Pikmin. Her Final Smash would probably be something similar to Snake's: jumping from the screen and using a cursor to fire at others (again a reference to her games in WWInc.).
Sami from Advanced Wars series. I don't know much about Sami, but a friend requested her inclusion, and I liked the idea. Sami would be similar to Snake: mostly using bombs and other explosives, rather than guns. She's be quicker than Snake, but weaker. She's also have a different moveset. Her Final Smash would be something along the lines of calling in either air-support or a gaggle of ground troops. EDIT: I'm told she's an infantry expert, so looks like the "ground troops" idea is the way it'd go!
Krystal from the Star Fox series. I know some outraged that she was not included as playable (and likewise I know some outraged at the idea of having her BE included), but I think she'd have worked to represent the Star Fox world while having a completely different set of moves. Her staff would give her great range attacks and a (relatively weak) projectile, and her agility would make her hard to hit. Final Smash could be summoning a triceratops to charge across (similar to Ganon's).
Simon Belmont from the Castlevania series. A great representation of a series with roots back to the NES, like Megaman. Plus, with Megaman, Pit, and Belmont, you could toss in Link and have a pseudo Captain N fight! He'd be slow, but powerful, and his whip would have fantastic reach. Final Smash could power up his whip to the Flame Whip, and also give him boosted speed.
Dawn, aka "Rival Trainer," from Pokemon Diamond/Pearl. (I added the "Rival Trainer" name because they didn't want to use a real name for the Pokemon Trainer in the game, so they likely wouldn't use Dawn's character name, either.) I think the idea of "Pokemon Trainer" is fantastic enough to have another character with the same idea, but three new Pokemon very different from P.T.'s. Roselia would be short, fast, hard to hit, but pretty weak. Her attacks would hit both in front and behind her, though. Infernape would be both fast and have flame powered attacks, but easily knocked around. Mismagius, rather than being a powerhouse like Charizard, would have amazing recovery and be very hard to hit, and also take twice the amount of damage from others before having the same result in raised percentage. She'd also have Dark Ball similar to Mewtwo's Dark Ball from Melee. Final Smash would bring all three out to fire beam-like attacks, just like P.T.'s. It's super effective!
And there you have it. Some Honorary Smash Bros. Hope you enjoyed!
I really want to see Sami, Jody and Geno in there. Sami's Final Smash could involve Eagle as support; while she is an infantry commander, she is rumoured to have a romantic connection with Eagle, Green Earth's air ace. Jody seems pretty athletic. Drop Zero Suit Samus and give Jody a similar moveset, but different specials and the White Cat Final Smash. And, of course, Geno, who threatened to blow up Japan if he wasn't in Brawl. He'd be a great character. Damn you Square for not giving Nintendo the rights...

Yeah, I pretty much agree with all of this. Smash needs more female characters, and Simon + Geno would be beyond awesome.

I think Alucard would be a better character to put in the next Super Smash Bros game because he has a soul stealing power mechanic that would provide with many different attacks for developers to choose from and it simply be a matter of choosing the attacks that are best suited for a fighting game. Plus, he doesn't run around without a shirt on like Simon Belmont does.

Because making a crappy Naruturd style fighting game after the abysmal Asura's Wrath instead of a .hack RPG deserves no praise.
